Cakes and More...

So just recently I've decided I wanted to start a new hobby. I got thinking and I love to bake and make food So, why not experiment and try decorating cakes! Great Idea! I went to the library and got a few books on how to decorate cakes! This got me all excited to learn that a lot goes in a cake. I had no clue how difficult you can make a cake. Well, I was determined to make a heart shaped cake for valentines coming up. So, I got all my ingredients and started baking. I took the cake out of the oven and I left it to cool in the pan for a bit. but, my instructions said to take out of pan to cool on a rack so I did so. As I was taking the cake out it cracked in half..I was so mad. The first thing I had to do was ruined. But, it actually looked okay put back together and the frosting wouldn't show it and I was going to attempt fondant!

Then came the hard part...Kneading of the fondant to dye it pink! It took a lot of work but, I finally got it the color I wanted it!Fondant color:

I'm really not very creative when it comes to thinking of ideas of what to make the cake look like. If I have an example I can usually just copy it but this time I had to come up with something. Here is the final cake!

I think that it turned out pretty good for being my first cake! I will post about my next cake that I have in mind!!

Disneyland!

We just bought our tickets for our Disneyland trip in February!!! We are so excited!!Chris has never been to Disneyland so this will be really fun. I went 2 years ago and actually tried the roller coasters. I have always been afraid of roller coasters but I was brave and got on them. I don't know what I was so scared about. They are fantastic!!

Tis The Season!

Well! It's that time of year again!When you get to eat all the yummy goodies and have celebrations and parties with people you love! I love this time of year...Especially when I think back a year ago Chris and I held hands for the first time!! Wow, it seems just like yesterday we were doing the whole dating thing. We were at temple square and I really wanted to hold his hand so, I would walk really close to him and bump into him with my hand to kind of give him a hint. Well, it worked! We held hands for the first time. It was amazing. Now a year later and we have been married almost 7 months now. Oh how time flies when you are having fun. I love this time of year when I get to spend my time with family and friends and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. I'm so thankful for the birth of Jesus Christ and I love that we can reflect upon Him especially this season.

I'm excited to make new years resolutions! I'm so excited to have Chris help me be motivated to do them. He is such a great support to me. And I will help him in all of his!

Witches!!!!

I got to go with my sisters and mother in laws to witches night out at gardner village! We all dressed up and went up and I think my favorite part was seeing almost everyone dressed up. It's amazing how people go all out and make their costumes perfect for that night. My costume was a makeshift costume...haha I wasn't planning on dressing up but I conformed because everyone else was so I need to too!! It was really fun. I love hanging out with chris's family. We always have a great time in whatever we do.

Our life has been pretty busy lately it seems. With Chris going to school and working and just getting a new assignment to teach an English class in the stake on Thursday nights and me working almost 10-12 hours a day it gets pretty crazy. But, we are loving life besides the cold mornings that I really don't like. I'm really excited for Halloween this year! Halloween is significant because that's really the first time me and Chris really "hung out"!! After that we were inseparable

Pumpkin Patch!

Yesterday inbetween conferences Chris and I got invited by a family friend to come to their annual pumpkin patch party! Boy! there were tons of people there. It was fun though to see how cute the decorations were and to see some of my family there. They served hot dogs and chips for lunch which was actually pretty tasty. We even got to take home a cute pumpkin!! I think that was my favorite part.

Can you believe we have hit our 4 month mark of being married! Time flies like crazy when you are busy with school, work and of course more work! But we are sure having tons of fun!!

Yes, I took that picture! Around this time 3 years ago me and my mom were in Hawaii!! It was so much fun. The blue skies, the green blue water and you cant forget the rainbows!! I'm actually not looking forward to the cold cold winter months. I love the weather we are having right now and it should stay this way all year around. But, ya know..I can't have everything I want ;)

So for my birthday Emily got me tickets to the REAL Salt Lake vs. Kansas City soccer game last night. Which also had an after game concert with OneRepublic. I really enjoy watching soccer and OneRepublic so last night was really awesome for me! Not to mention Emily came with me which made everything 100% better! We were told when we were there that there were more than 19,000 people at the Rio Tinto stadium. It was packed! But so much fun! If you've never been to a REAL Salt Lake game, I suggest you go. Here are some pictures of our awesome/fantastic night!!

So today as I was riding the bus to work, a man got on with quite possibly one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I realized as he got on that he had a backpack on. His backpack was furry. Wait! That wasn't his backpack that was a dog hanging out of it, head, one leg, one paw, and all. I couldn't stop chuckling to myself all the way to work. It was seriously hilarious in a, may I say it, cute way. Well, here's to all you who carry little dogs in your backpacks, keep it up! You never know if it will brighten up someones day!

Weekend!

This weekend has been so much fun!! To start off Chris and I practically had all of friday off (Chris worked in West Valley from 8am-10a) I went with him so that afterwards we could go straight over to the Salt Lake Temple!! Chris planned the whole weekend! I was so excited to go to the temple. I've always wanted to go inside the Salt Lake Temple and now I had my chance! It was amazing! Everything is so beautiful inside and out. I hope everyone can see it one day, it is breath taking.

Then after the temple we were starving of course! So, Chris took me to Applebees where we ate some yummy lunch. I was kind of disappointed when our waiter said they were out of ice cream. How can a resturant be out of ice cream? haha but, I really didn't need the ice cream anyway.

Then we spent the night at my grandma's cabin in midway! We had lots of fun just relaxing and having a scrabble tournament! Yes, our favorite game is scrabble!! So, if anyone wants to play with us we will be very happy to. We also played E.R.S card game that I am totally horrible at. I kept making Chris play over and over because I just could not seem to win one game. After 8 games I won the last 2. Making the score 8-2. My luck must have ran out.

Yes!! I made our own Cafe Rio pork salads last week for dinner and man it was amazing!! They tasted so good! It is time consuming but so worth it in the end! I am loving being able to cook all sorts of different foods. And Chris says he will eat whatever I put in front of him. haha

Motorcycling!

We sort of, kind of invited ourselves on a motorcycle ride with the gang. Chris had never been on a motorcycle ride so it was about time we got him cultured. We had lots of fun, we went up through Heber and then onto Park City. At first I didn't think he liked the ride but, he might go again someday :)

Marriage!!

Yes I did get married!! May 21st That was 2 months ago! It goes by so so fast. It has been so much fun. I love being married. It is so fun to have my best friend with me all the time! Our apartment is really cute. It's 2 bedrooms and 1 bath nice little kitchen. Oh! and I've decided I love cooking! I love trying out new recipes and having them taste wonderful! I'm so domesticated haha. We went to vegas on our honeymoon and it was so fun. We got to try 16 different coca cola's from all over the world. We went and saw phantom of the opera which was amazing. I highly recommend it!

Engaged!

So, I've been engaged for about a month now! And it has been fantastic! Chris and I are having so much fun getting ready for the wedding. I'm so blessed to have so many people wanting to help with the plans. Thanks to all of them!!
We went to color me mine the other day and made our first soup bowl together! It turned out really cute. (pictures to come) We also found a place to live! It's called oxford square condos. It is over by the provo library. It is so cute. Of course its on the third floor so when I told my dad, he just started laughing because the last time I lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment he helped move all my stuff up the stairs. haha but hopefully, it wont be as bad since there arent as many stairs to climb.

Me and Chris got to go with my family to the Carl Bloch exhibit at byu last night! It was awesome! I would recommend it to anyone. It was so neat to see the original paintings of Christ from all over the world. Too bad I couldn't take pictures inside but, they were beautiful.

Temple Square Lights!

Me and Chris went with his family up to temple square on saturday to see the lights. It wasn't as cold outside as some years which was really good! The lights were very pretty and there were a lot of them but not as many as past years when I have gone. We then walked around and decided to go to dinner. They decided to go to Pat's BBQ. Im game for anything especially if it involves meat! Well, we get to the place and holy cow I thought that if I left my car outside it would get stolen. We were kind of in the ghetto of SLC. Haha It was more a shack than a resturant. But, the food was so so so good! I would recommend it to anyone that likes BBQ's.

Just Ordinary

This week has been so different then all the weeks lately. Of course I have worked which is ordinary but, I did have a minor foot procedure done on tuesday and man did it hurt afterwards..yes, yes it sure did. Today is the the third day and its still sore. But, I can say that its not as sore as it was. I can actually walk a tiny bit faster with a limp. Hopefully it will turn the corner and stop throbbing. (I hate feeling my heartbeat in my foot.) Pictures to come... :)

I also got to go to the Utah Flash basketball game tuesday night and that was really fun. Since the team doctors are doctors I work with we get alot of benifits. It's great! Awesome seats, food provided. Tons of fun even though they did lose tuesday.

So remember when I had braces on for like ever...Well, I went to the orthedontist on wed. because I was concerned that one of my teeth is migrating and we cant have that since I want my teeth to be straight and took a lot of tears to get them where they are today. Well, Dr. Graf jokingly said "Hey, lets put braces back on ya!" I was like um..NO. I get to wear the lovely retainers again for a while! Yippee..not. But I definitely will do it to get my tooth back into shape.

So, I saw this craft made on the show called Home Made Simple. It looked pretty easy and I wanted to make it. With my attempt in being all crafty I began the adventure in making a sun mirror! It turned out so good! With alittle help from some styrofoam and hot glue and of course mirrors I got it all done!

Halloween was so much fun this year! I got to dress up several times this past week. Monday my ward had their halloween party so of course I dressed up. I dress up as a biker chick..Haha I know its not much of a dress up because I ride motorcycles. But, I did put my own tattoo sleeve on. It took about a half hour to place all the stick on tattoos that I got from walmart. My are turned out great though! I also dressed up the same for work. I even had patients think my tattoos were real! Saturday I went to a friends house for a halloween party and can I tell you it was so much fun! I havent had that much fun in a while. There was tons of yummy food and treats. Everyone dressed up which was awesome!

So, I have had the opportunity to travel alot this summer/fall on...you guessed it.. a Motorcycle!!! It has been the funnest experience ever. Me and my dad and a bunch of others have gone to every national park in Utah including yellowstone, Montana! I have seen so many beautiful things. Its amazing what God has created for us. My family got to go to California for 4 days and man was it fun! We rented a van so that we all could go in one car. There were seven of us that went. We went down for my cousin Katie's wedding who got married in the Newport Beach Temple which is a beautiful temple. We got to see the beach and also go to Disneyland for a day! I got over my fear of rollercoasters!! I now love them! I wish I could have stayed longer at disneyland but it was so fun. The drive was so worth it!

Tonight for Fhe our ward had our own amazing race! It was quite fun. We had to drive around and find these certain locations and take pictures of them. Grand Canyon Trip!!

Me and my dad went on our first real big motorcycle trip of the season to the Grand Canyon, Zions, Bryce and Capitol Reef national parks! Wow it was so so fun! We took three days to see everything and I want to go back and do some hikes into zions and bryce canyons. The best way to see a national park is by motorcycle! You get to see everything feel the breeze and just get to be apart of nature. One of the coolest things was going through the rock tunnels at Zions. That was pretty sweet. Bryce Canyon was also really neat to see all the rock formations and its amazing to me how water and weather created such things! It's amazing to me how beautiful the world is. I love living so close to nature. If it were my way I would live out there in these amazing canyons. We got to the North rim of the Grand Canyon and hiked alittle bit out to the lookout point and WOW is all I can say. The Grand Canyon is huge! They shouldn't have named it "Grand Canyon" they should have named it GINORMOUS Canyon!! It was so neat to see it and it was so green everywhere.

Tubing at Soldier Hollow!!

Tonight I went tubing with Kari up at soldier hollow! And can I tell you it was so fun. I'm so glad that I went. It was nice not having to climb that big hill. They have a pully system that takes you up the hill. When you go down the slopes it goes really fast, which is amazing!! Love it! I so totally want to go again and soon! So, if anyone wants to go call me! Here are some pictures from my fun adventure.

1 Week!!

So its been 1 week since I started my new year's resolutions and so far so good. I've gone to the gym everyday and I've been working on being nicer to people and a few other goals I have. It's amazing how easy it is once you put your mind to it and stick with it. This week I hope goes just as smooth. I'm even eating alittle healthier!! :D

A New Year!

What a great 2009 I had! It had its ups and downs but what year doesnt. It was a great learning year. Just what I needed. Now it's time for 2010!!! I can't wait. I have so many things I want to do. Hopefully I can do some of them. I want to run another half marathon so, I'm going to start training for that in March. I want to hike to the top of timp because I've never done it. I'm going to go to at least one jazz game. I want to go on a road trip anywhere. And maybe even disneyland! And of course everyones goal is to lose that extra holiday weight they put on...Well, I'm in that same boat! I'm wanting to lose atleast 15 lbs. Which is totally doable if I can just stick to it. So wish me luck. I just have to get it done.

So, I've become a pro at making ham and cheese braids!! Its amazing how easy it can be. Me and Meg have been experimenting new dishes to serve at our waffle nights which are tuesday nights. (we kinda got sick of eating waffles everytime so we are now mixing it up a bit.) Last tuesday we made two ham and cheese braids and two dessert braids, and boy were those really good!!

Baking Crazyness!!!

Just when I think I'm starting to be a good baker...This happens: My bread dough was way way way to sticky to do anything thing with it. So this is attempt #1. Then I threw it away...

Now with a new start me and meg got it somewhat right. But this time it was alittle on the dry side. But it still tasted good. Meg made the cinnamon rolls and I did the cream cheese braid. I think we had more fun laughing making the sticky dough than actually making our bread! Final attempt #2

Trip to Wyoming!

About a couple weeks ago me and my dad went for a motorcycle ride up to fort bridger which is in Wyoming! What a ride! Amazing. As we were coming into Evanston there were hundreds of windmills everywhere. It was awesome. I've never seen that many windmills. Everywhere you looked you could see windmills! We got to for bridger and walked around. Did you know that the Mormons burned down Fort Bridger and so Mr. Bridger went and got the "police" that drove them out of that area? I did not know that until now. Pretty interesting stuff that happened there. We then ate at alittle diner..I mean little. I ate my first bite of buffalo meat. It didn't taste like chicken..it actually tasted like hamburger.

Aspiring Cake Maker!!

Yesterday I thought of the idea to bake a cake for my mom for her birthday. I texted her and asked what her favorite candy bar was. She had no clue what I was doing. She thought I was buying her twix or something. So, I went to the store and bought all the stuff I thought I would need to make this awesome cake. After one attempt at getting the cake out of the pan I was unsuccessful. But, cake #2 came out fine! Thank goodness! Cuz, I was starting to get sick of a making just cake. Even though I only had made one unsuccessful one. I finally got it right and started decorating. It's really hard to get gold icing let me tell you all the trial and errors. but, me and meg finally got what we thought was close enough to gold. Here is the Final product!!

Summer Fun!

I have had so much fun living in my house. Me and Meg have started a new tradition that is so fun. Every tuesday we have waffle night and we invite anyone that wants to come! We have such a good time makin waffles and talking with people. And usually a great turn out everytime! This summer has flown by so fast. I can't believe it. I have done quite alot this year and its been so fun.

It's been forever since I last updated you all!! Sorry. Well I have had a great summer. A couple of weeks ago I got to go on a motorcycle ride with my dad. And Bronco Mendenhall (BYU Football coach) Was the lead motorcyclist!! There were over 150 bikes in this ride. It was so amazing. This bike ride was a fundraiser so, we entered a drawing to win a motorcycle..of course with my luck or my dads luck I should say.haha we didn't win. But, oh well, on day I will own a pink motorcycle! We got breakfast and lunch given to us, which was way nice. Very yummy! :D

Oh the places you'll go!!!

So, I know its been like forever!! I'm really bad at blogging. Anyway I got to go snowmobiling in Yellowstone over Presidents day weekend. Can I say it was amazing! The day was perfect. Blue sky, 37 degrees. haha We did get lost but that was the best part. We were about 20 miles off course out in the middle of no where. The tricky part was trying to find the right trails to get back. When we got back we went to an old abandoned airport and snowmoblied up and down the runways. It was fantastic!! The day we left was so cold. It was only 4 degrees! But, good thing the weather was good.

The lakes and rivers were so beautiful. Since the water is warm all of them are unfrozen which makes the picture taking incredible!!

A couple of weeks ago I also got the opportunity to go to the Draper Temple open house! Can I say it is the most beautiful place I have seen. Walking from each room and looking at all the architecture and pictures were amazing. I can't see why anyone would want something else than a temple marriage. Walking into the celestial room was aw strucking! It was gorgeous! Words can't describe the beauty. I can't wait to do my work in there.

James got to come with me. He just got home from his mission!! And my other friend Zac gets home in 8 days!!! So exciting to have my friends coming home.

Yes, I am finally writing a new post! Its been months and I'm sorry. Either I was just lazy, I really didn't have anything exciting happening but I finally have something to talk about! So, Erica a girl I work with has a sweet condo on 800 n in orem. And I heard that she was looking for a roommate. So, I asked her about it and of course she said yes I could move in if I wanted too. So, I thought about it and decided it was time again to move out of the parentals house. I moved in yesterday and spent all day walking up the 4 flights of stairs with all my stuff. Wow did I get a work out. I was so tired it sounded like I had just run a marathon. but I had only gone up those stairs like 10 times. haha Anyway I'm all settled in now and the condo is decorated so cute. I love how clean it is. Here are some pics of my new place.

Hawaii!!!!

Hawaii was an amazing place. The people are so nice and everything is so green and pretty. It is what they say a paradise! I didn't want to come home. The jetlag isn't very fun but so worth it.

Pearl Harbor was so neat to see. It's amazing to think that this beautiful calm place was under so much havoc. Its a real eye opener to see what people went through.

The beaches were amazing. We traveled to the north shore of the island and on our way we stopped at a few beaches and there was no one on them except me and my mom. It was awesome to have the whole beach to ourselves.

Me and my mom hiked Diamond Head which is a huge dorment volcano. It was quite a hike let me tell you but totally worth it. The view was fantastic.

Girls Weekend Get-away!!

This weekend me and Megan decided that we needed a little vacation. We decided to go to my cabin for the weekend. And can I say it was amazing! We got to do anything we wanted. First we read books, watched movies, slept and slept some more! It was fantastic. We also played a sweet game of Bingo and won a prize! The prize was fake jewelry, and of course we had to try it on. We went into town and found this little old play town and took some pictures. We also went to this little pastry store and bought a ton of food. which by the way was incredible. I think I ate more sugar this weekend than I have in years. It was so nice to be away from all the chaos in our lives. It was so quiet up there in the mountains and the weather was the best.

We got creative with our new jewelry! The braclets didn't fit our wrists so they got put on our ears! haha

The Osmond Concert

Me and my friend Megan and the fam all went to the Osmond concert at the conference center and it was amazing. I'm so glad we got to go. The music was so entertaining and they were really funny. President Monson and President Uchtdorf came and the whole audience stood up and it was dead silent in that building with like 22,000 people. It was incredible. The concert was so fun and I even watched the rebroadcast of it because it was so great! ha

Mini Golf Adventures

Me, Megan and Matt went to Cascade mini golf and played the 18 wonderful holes. We got the golf balls in the water more than we did in the holes. But still had a great time fishing them out! haha

Hair Craziness!!

Ashley started hair school at the beginning of June and is doing great. I got to be her dummy for hair color and She did a great job. My hair is a lot blonder! But, it looks good. While I was at her school she did the front and sides of my hair but ran out of time to do the back because I had to go to work. So, to make a long story short we had to finish at my parents house which we had tons of fun doing.

1st Race

My first race was amazing! I did the 5k on the fourth of July at 7am. My goal was to finish within an hour and I finished in 30 min and 54 sec. I came in 29th in my division out of 70 So, that also made me so happy. Now I wake up every morning at 4:30am to go run before work. It's alot easier to run in the morning than at night since I'm so tired at night.

I run my half marathon on August 23rd in Park City! I'm way excited.
